What should I send?
You do not need all of these, but any you can share by email, or mention when we call, helps us understand the problem before we visit:
- photos of the chimney stack taken from the street or the garden, zoomed in if you can;
- photos of any damp patches, stains or peeling paint inside, on the chimney breast or ceiling;
- whether the stack is shared with a neighbour;
- whether the flue is still in use for an open fire or stove, or has been blocked up.
Please take photos from the ground or from inside the house only. Do not go onto the roof.
What happens next?
We call you back and ask what you can see, such as stains after rain, loose bricks or mortar, or cracked pots. If an inspection makes sense, we arrange one from the ground, a ladder, roof access or a drone as suits the property. We then explain the likely cause and your options with photos, and give you a written quote. If the work goes ahead, safe access is arranged, the repair is carried out and you get photos of the finished job.
